House Mistakes

We were called and told that the builder had made an error in two of our windows...that they weren't up to code for escape during a fire or emergency. Because of this, the master bedroom window's middle pane had to be changed to two sliding windows. Not a huge change. However, the window in the den had to be enlarged. We were a bit concerned at first until after seeing the new opening for th window. In my opinion, it actually balanced the two sides of the house better. When the window was smaller, I'd always felt like the southeast side of the front looked diminutive in comparison to the northeast side.

As of today, all the sheetrock is in place.

Last night Joel and I were up at the house and noticed that the builder had forgotten to add a gas line to the kitchen for the cooktop. I wish I'd kept a log of all the things Joel has had to point out to them to correct.

Wish I'd Had My Camera

Joel and I've been doing a lot of cool things in Spokane lately...mostly for free. Unfortunately, I keep forgetting my camera. Speaking of which...wish I'd had it at the house over the weekend. I was standing in our dining room looking out back when a coyote sauntered by. Okay...that's going to go over really well when the 7 Russian families with their 3-5 kids each move into the neighborhood.

A Moose Is Loose

July 4th -- Tyson left this morning, heading back to Lincoln. Thank goodness for nice surprises like seeing moose from our back deck and hearing eagles. If it weren't for things like this, it would be even harder having our children living so far away.

Stutter Start

After three weeks of nothing, the framers are finally done with the house across the street and are working on ours. Apparently, there is a shortage of framers here due to the housing boom in Spokane and surrounding area. The pictures below are of the basement framework.
