Clouds

The clouds here in Spokane are certainly a lot different than the ones we had in Scottsbluff. These are dense, thick, grey clouds, sometimes white. They have more substance and create a different feel than what we are used to.

Christmas Music Tirade

Okay...you have to understand this first. I'm a great lover of Christmas music. I have a mountain of Christmas CDs and was happier than a cat in catnip when we moved to Spokane and I found a station that plays non-stop Christmas music starting the day after Thanksgiving up through the day Santa delivers his wares. I love Christmas music in rag style, Latin style, Jimmy Buffet style, Blues styles, you name it. That is...Christmas music not heard until after Thanksgiving. I can forgive Wal-Mart and the department stores and malls for displaying Christmas wares before Halloween. That's business and it's the bulk of their business...but music stations playing Christmas music too early...hmmm...that's a different, um, tune. Joel and I were driving around today...November 12th. That makes this the day after Veteran's Day and way more than a month before Christmas and I couldn't believe my ears. The local radio station, KISS, played James Taylor's "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas". I'll have to admit it, I loved it, I wanted to revel in it and get all goosepimply but even I knew that if it starts now, I'll be gagging over Christmas tunes by December 1st and I don't want that. So, Stop The Insanity. I hope that's the last Christmas song I hear until November 25th. If not, I'm going to have to pull the radio plug (at least for a couple weeks).

Move 'em on, Head 'em up

We're almost ready to move. Packing is progressing at the apartment and it's only about half as tense as it was moving from Scottsbluff to Spokane. The weather has cooperated...I can't remember a more beautiful autumn. I only wish our families could see it.

What you see in the two pictures below is the front of our home. They still need to add the porch and wrap the two columns. There is also a back porch that needs to be completed. After a few touchups and a pass by the inspector, we should be able to move in after our walk through on Friday. Movers will be coming Saturday morning to pack us up.

So....

Move 'em on,
head 'em up,
Head 'em up,
move 'em out,
Move 'em on,
head 'em out
Rawhide!

Set 'em out,
ride 'em in
Ride 'em in,
let 'em out,
Cut 'em out,
ride 'em in
Rawhide.

Wall Color

The walls in the pictures below look like they are white but, in real life, they are a creamy yellow.

My Kids Are Great

My kids sent a gift certificate for my birthday from REI sporting goods store. Woo hoo! I've wanted to check the store out since seeing it here in Spokane and this gave me a good excuse to do so.

After browsing around and trying on some different things, I settled on this nifty vest. It's great for running in cooler but dry weather...when it's not quite cold enough for a full coat but you want something more than just your shirt. I love the color and the feel of it.

I like using this site for figuring out how to dress for my outdoor runs. You plug in the temperature, the wind conditions and how cool or warm you like to feel when you run and it suggests what to wear. http://www.runnersworld.com/apparel/dress_form.html
